Bengals fire defensive coordinator Teryl AustinNovember 12, 2018 6:01pm

Well, the Bengals front office is tired of seeing its defense get run over on a weekly basis and decided to fire defensive coordinator Teryl Austin early Monday, the team confirmed.

After a 51-14 loss to New Orleans on Sunday, Cincinnati ranks 31st in the NFL allowing 32 points per game, and dead last allowing 454.6 total yards per game.

Sunday’s debacle, in which the Saints piled up 509 total yards, was the third consecutive game in which the Bengals allowed 500 or more yards — a first for any team since the AFL-NFL merger.

Austin was brought to the team in January after spending three seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Lions.
