Gamescom: Uncharted 3 -- What You Didn't See

What the press got to see behind closed doors...

2011-08-17
Many of you watched the Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception demo during Sony's Gamescom Press Conference awe. But what you didn't see is what happened to Nathan Drake after he was swept out of the plane. Well I did, and here's what you missed.

If you didn't see the demo, here's a trailer that pretty much wraps up what was shown.

So here's how the "extended demo" went down. After being viciously thrown out behind the cargo plane, Drake narrowly catches onto the webbing on a crate. In typical Uncharted fashion, he then climbs up the webbing. Along the way he manages to axe an enemy who brazenly jumps out after him, killing him and taking his gun. Then he boards the plane and goes on a killing spree that is akin to the climax of Scarface.

But such blatant violence does not go unpunished, and Drake's rage-fest quickly results in an explosion that blasts a hole in the side of the plane. Try as he might to stay inside, he's sucked out of the gash in the hull, where the demo faded to black.

We at IGN don't always get to see much more than you guys in our press-exclusive events. But hey, what was shown looked great, and I can't wait to see how the extended-extended-version of this level (aka the final game) concludes.
